Barrier Breaker: Jackie Robinson and the Activism of Professional Athletes
Join the NYC DOE Department of Social Studies and Civics and Jackie Robinson Museum Education Department for a special professional learning opportunity. This interactive workshop will allow participants to examine some of the Civics for All curricular resources including the brand-new comic Barrier Breaker #1! Participants will have an opportunity to tour the museum’s exhibitions and discuss how to integrate resources from the museum’s collection into lessons. The Department of Social Studies and Civics will model classroom strategies on using comics in the classroom and lessons on baseball history.

All attendees will receive access to ready-to-go classroom materials, CTLE credit, breakfast, and lunch.

This professional learning session is open to all NYC DOE Educators, but will be most aligned with middle and high school instruction.
